Daycare Center
The building is planned and implemented as a wooden modular construction. On a concrete soil slab, only wood has been used as a structural and design material. This characterizes the atmosphere of the building both in the interior spaces and in the external appearance.
It is perhaps particularly noteworthy that despite the strictness of the modules, the floor plan departs from the orthogonal grid. By slightly rotating and offsetting the modules, the group rooms become legible in shape and open up to the outside space with playful elegance.
Integrated Comprehensive School Frankfurt
All of the classrooms and specialized rooms open up to the outdoor surroundings through large façade windows. This maximizes the amount of natural light and gives children a generous and open connection to the surrounding outdoor area. The windows also provide natural ventilation. The façade cladding continues in front of these ventilation elements with openings as a subtle indication of the ventilation function. The outer walls are clad in raw Douglas fir boards, characterizing the new school building as an independent structure bridging the nearby green corridor and the new residential district. The window and door frames are made of wood profiles. All of the classrooms and specialized rooms have external sun shading; the corridors are also outfitted with blinds. The building modules are self-supporting constructions with spans of up to seven meters; a single classroom consists of three elements.
European School Frankfurt / Main
The new building of the Pre-primary and Primary School extends the existing school building of the European School in Frankfurt / Main. The building was designed in a modular timber structure and yet it retains a high design level by arranging the spatial units around a spacious and open corridor in different directions. In addition to the classroorns the corridor functions a meeting place for the children and provides different views of the scenery.
